Episode 4 — Remaster Queue
DISASSEMBLE — JOHNNY FIVE IS ALIVE. Episode 4 turns Richie's cheapies into something useful: the Kersey & Damo remaster fund. If the coconut vendor arc won't deliver tapes on schedule, the recovery plan is disasm → gfx inject → ship. Learn the factory by remastering real games, not by coding Gemzy's World from scratch on Day 1.
The queue (so far)
Three specs live under GamesAttic remasters — each with a tier that matches ambition to hardware reality:
001 · Frankenstein Jnr. — Standard tier. Straightforward gfx inject, good first factory lesson.
002 · Sub Hunt 64 — MADNESS tier. Multiplex / hi-res overlay H-scroll — the kind of brief that keeps Kersey arched-brow interested.
003 · BMX Simulator — Standard → Scroll+ upgrade. Original is non-scrolling MC bitmap + level tiles; the upgrade path uses HSP/VSP $D011 tricks from the Codebase64 canon.
Remaster gfx beats greenfield panic for Day 1 C64 factory learning. Specs in GamesAttic/remasters/. Phase 0 is blocked on AV cable + tape dumps — Ep 2 pinout war still paying dividends. Ghostbusters remaster exempt; other crew owns that one.
Gemzy's World stays the north star — original game, long arc — but the remaster queue is how you earn the muscles. Johnny Five didn't learn input by building a new robot; he read the manuals and took things apart.
Ship GOOD NUFF v1 before you HSP the hot dog stand into orbit. Sub Hunt MADNESS is allowed to be ambitious. BMX Scroll+ is allowed to be clever. None of it ships without the correct 262° cable and actual tape bits. Priorities, Tall Hobbit.
